Vicky Foxcroft MP: There's no doubt that when you go into a prison and you speak to the prison population that so many of them had mental health issues that were either diagnosed or undiagnosed and learning difficulties. And what we need to do is we need to be providing that support in school at a much earlier age.

Because if you're a kid in school, and you've fallen behind, and let's say you're struggling in terms of your reading, at some point, you're just going to entirely switch off from the education system because it's a system that doesn't seem to fit for you and you don't feel like you can get there or anywhere. So we need to be providing that support at a much earlier stage.

Indeed, our report is specifically on expulsions, and I guess that people will kind of be talking around, you know, the secondary school side of stuff, but actually, we could go far further back in terms of primary school, and indeed even further back in terms of early year support.
