[Text on screen]: On the day of the royal wedding, police arrested several people in London -including some who were planning on going to a “zombie picnic”. But what has this got to do with human rights?

The zombies were on their way to protest government cuts affecting LGBT people. They never made it. After seeing a large police presence, they changed their minds and turned back. But police still stopped and arrested them in a nearby coffee shop - despite not finding anything significant when searching them. They were still held until after the royal wedding was over.

We are all entitled to liberty as a basic human right. Unless police believe they are stopping you from committing a crime. The protesters believed they were unfairly held. And took their case all the way to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court said that the protesters’ rights to liberty were not breached.

Our right to liberty protects us from being arrested or imprisoned unfairly. This case will have important implications on how protests are policed in the future.
