Vera arrived in the UK from Slovakia in 1968 for a holiday and stayed after the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia that year. Having studied metallurgy in her home country, she worked in a precious metal refinery. Later, she studied psychology and business. Since the independence of Slovakia, she has acted as a translator and interpreter. In her free time, she likes reading, opera, classical music, bridge, swimming and walking. She enjoys spending time her family.
