RightsInfo is an award-winning human rights news charity, which spreads awareness and support for human rights with innovative and accessible online content. We’re looking for enthusiastic and talented students to join our team, and help us get other students talking about and fighting for their rights.
Starting this term, we’re looking for inspiring young people to join us as Student Ambassadors. We’re seeking passionate, engaged advocates of human rights who will develop our reach with other young people, and support us in finding amazing local stories.
While we’re mostly looking for dynamic human rights champions, we’ll be really impressed by anyone who can use social media to engage people and spread the word – it’s not about your follower count, just that we can see you are a great fit with the way we do things at RightsInfo.
This is a volunteer role, but we want to make it as valuable an experience as possible. There will be opportunities to do work experience with us, pitch story ideas, and come to our cosy office in London’s Oxford Circus for training events – or even just a cup of coffee and a chat! ☕️
We’ll also make sure to offer you as much support and feedback as you need – we’re always on the end of the phone.
The Details
Being an Ambassador will involve:
- Representing and advocating for RightsInfo, and human rights more generally, through social media and on campus.
- Helping to develop and grow our social media among student communities, feeding back responses which will help shape our content plans
- Leading on the running on-campus events, such as Freshers’ Fairs, a RightsInfo Society, or organising a panel discussion based on a new video we’re launching.
- Assisting our News and Social Media Editor, Jem Collins, with local research and finding case studies in your university town.
- Developing links with local student papers to share our original stories and research.

- One or two weeks’ work experience at RightsInfo HQ, with opportunities to take your first step into writing about rights ✏️
- Additional training and social events with guest speakers, and free drinks and nibbles 🍷

- 100 words about you
- 100 words on why you’d like to work with RightsInfo
- 200 words on how you could use your skills to spread awareness of human rights in your student community
