Fans of prison drama Orange is the New Black will know that its plot lines raises fascinating ethical dilemmas about how society treats prisoners. With the new season being launched, we thought it would be fun to compare some of the series’s plot lines to real human rights cases.
Orange is the New Black is based on the real-life experiences of Piper Kerman, an American writer who spent a year in prison in Connecticut, USA for drug trafficking and money laundering. Because of prisoners’ high dependence on the State, their human rights can be more easily interfered with.
