At EachOther, we are looking for an Editor to join our small team who understands the power of storytelling and who shares our passion for human rights.
About you
You will support people whose rights are threatened to tell their own stories and act as custodian of our ethical editorial process. You will have an eye for detail and a commitment to helping us implement our new strategy in keeping with our core values.
You will be innovative and driven, with a love of social media and technology, the ability to work autonomously and a desire to develop further EachOther’s investigative and human rights journalism, and the cross-team working between our editorial and video teams.
About us
EachOther’s storytelling puts the human into human rights. We tell news stories that inform and personal stories that inspire, and, in doing so, we build public understanding and support for human rights. We hope that more people will then speak up for our rights when they are threatened, putting pressure on politicians to do the same. By creating the conditions for more people to stand up for their rights, we can defend our human rights architecture whilst cultivating a culture of human rights in the UK.
Rights protect everyone, so we strive to reach into every section of society. Our filmmaking and independent journalism generate a wide range of multimedia content on our website and social media channels to engage a host of different audiences. We empower those whose rights are endangered to tell their own inspirational stories. By amplifying their voices, we can help people connect across perceived divides. The challenge is greater in a time of social distancing and an era of virtual communication, but the aim of our work is to kindle empathy. That way, we can show we are not alone. We are EachOther.
About the application
We welcome applications from as diverse a field of candidates as possible, and you do not need to live in London (where EachOther’s office is located) to perform this role, however as a human rights charity that focuses on rights issues in the UK – you would need to be based in the UK.
We are committed to refreshing our EachOther family so that it better reflects our audience and we would particularly welcome applications from people from groups that are marginalised in society or underrepresented on our team.
