Stories of Genocide: Lessons for Today

Published on 27 Jan 2022

To mark Holocaust Memorial Day 2022, EachOther has made ‘Stories of Genocide: Lessons for Today’.

The film features interviews with three survivors of genocide: Ruth Barnett, Eric Murangwa and Kemal Pervanic, survivors of The Holocaust, the Genocide in Rwanda and the Bosnian Genocide respectively. It also shows how places like The Imperial War Museum and the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, as well as the student-led Genocide 80Twenty group, are keeping the stories of genocide survivors alive.

We feature stories from different organisations and survivors talking about genocide throughout Holocaust Memorial Day week.

EachOther is a UK-focused charity that uses independent journalism, storytelling and filmmaking to put the human into human rights. The digital content we produce is grounded in the lived experience of ordinary people affected by human rights issues. We involve them in the process of developing their stories, rather than talking for or over them. Theirs are the voices we platform and amplify to our lay audience of over a million viewers each year. In this way, we hope to grow public support for human rights here in the UK.
